Stephen Ministries was founded by Dr. Kenneth C. Haugk—a pastor and clinical psychologist—who launched this one-on-one lay caregiving ministry in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1975. Its aim is to equip Christians to provide care for those navigating life's valleys, walking alongside them through difficult times.
To date, more than 14,000 churches worldwide have adopted this caregiving model, bringing the love of Jesus to those in need.
Founding Philosophy: "Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ." (Galatians 6:2)
Origin of the Name: Derived from Acts Chapter 6, Stephen was the first brother chosen to serve those in need.

Merciful and Compassionate Heavenly Father:
You are mindful of our pain and our loneliness. A bruised reed You will not break, and a smoldering wick You will not quench. You personally bear our sorrows and carry our pain. Not only do You understand our every emotion, but You are also able to heal the wounds within our hearts.
We entrust to Your presence all those who are struggling in pain and in need of Your comfort and support. We pray that You would personally comfort and heal them, enabling them to experience Your love and to receive hope and renewed strength; for nothing can ever separate us from Your love.
We offer this prayer in the holy name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Amen.
We look forward to walking alongside you;
